George M. Gregorash

Echo Group Associate George Gregorash has over 30 years of high level banking experience, with an emphasis on central bank policy, financial sector surveillance and financial institution supervision, regulation, closure and rehabilitation.

During his 17 years in the supervision department of the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (ten of which he served as an officer) Mr. Gregorash oversaw divisions responsible for the on-site supervision of multinational banks, bank and bank holding company off-site surveillance and early warning systems, formal capital markets and OTC derivatives, financial sector macroprudential and financial policy studies, and departmental budgeting, training and strategic planning.

Beginning in 1990, Mr. Gregorash advised a number of foreign central banks while on loan from the Fed to the U.S. Treasury, and later as an independent consultant. He has advised in the supervision of a variety of developing country contexts and has authored financial sector reviews for both IMF and World Bank. He has served as resident central bank advisor in Hungary, Slovenia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos and Sri Lanka while providing short term assistance on banking or micro-finance in South Korea, Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tanzania, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Eritrea, Namibia, Malawi, Ethiopia, Maldives, Rwanda, Serbia and Bosnia. In addition to central bank supervisory issues, Mr. Gregorash has substantial emerging market experience in bank acquisitions and bank rehabilitation for private concerns.

Mr. Gregorash received his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University.
