James (Jim) Dufala received his first taste of international experience in Vietnam as an U.S. Army finance specialist. He has served as Director of the Kauai (Hawaii) Chapter of Habitat for Humanity and has seen to the construction of homes and community shelters in the aftermath of hurricanes and other natural disasters. He has taught construction management and estimating at the community college level, and he has owned and managed his own construction company and other small enterprises. From 1993 through 1997 he initiated and developed a community revitalization plan known as the "Russian Economic Model" in Ivanovo, Russia. He has vast experience working under adverse conditions, both in public and private enterprise. For the past 8 years Jim has been deployed by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Administration) to over 15 Federally declared disasters, evaluating property losses. Also currently, he has been transitioning to Costa Rica, where he has planted over 10,000 trees.
